If you're having issues with paypal, it may be because you clicked through a social media link to get to the site. We don't know why this glitch occurs, we only know that it does. Try refreshing your browser, opening schoolofburlesque.com in a new browser window, using a device other than your phone, or email us for alternative payment options.
Be sure to name the class you're asking about in every single correspondence and include its date.
If you registered for a class, check your PayPal or Venmo email receipt for the email address of the payee. That is the email address for questions about a class you've paid for.
If you have questions but you are NOT registered for a class, email schoolofburlesque@gmail.com.
When corresponding, include the name by which the class is listed on our website, the date about which you're inquiring, the name of the instructor, and the link to the page where you viewed it, to make sure we know which class is being discussed.

Our classes are currently taking place both internationally on Zoom and in-studio in NYC. If you haven't received your zoom invitation by half an hour before class time on the day of any class for which you are registered, let us know by emailing schoolofburlesque@gmail.com.
Our in-person classes in NYC will be held in Manhattan at 150 West 30th St OR at 440 Lafayette St. Read every listing carefully for each class location.
COVID safety measures will be taken for in-person classes per current conditions.
Bring proof of vaccination.
Since we can’t predict what will happen during the pandemic, we don’t want to make any promises about everything we’ll be able to do, but being responsive to you is a top priority.
Keep well, and take care of you and yours!

General Class Information:
For information on class content, see the calendar and click on the class in which you're interested in the calendar. For information on price, what to wear, and other details, follow the link in the class description on the calendar.
All shows on the calendar are open to students and the general public unless otherwise stated. Student showcases are limited to participants and audience members 21+.
Information about class times, locations, what to wear, and which classes are appropriate for beginner or experienced are on the individual pages for each class. When asking for more details about a given class, please include either the URL for the class or the title, date, and time of the class or we will not know to which class you're referring. "I'm interested in tonight's class" is not enough information when we have more than one class that night, so please be specific. Read all information on this page for general questions.
Our goal is to provide a space in which students feel supported, though individual class assignments may be challenging, and the business end of burlesque can be demanding. Our goal is to make these spaces inclusive, diverse, and free of harassment. Because of the sexy nature of burlesque, it is important to us to help maintain our students' boundaries and comfort when they need our help or authority to do so. Please let us know if you ever feel uncomfortable due to the speech or actions of any of our instructors, students, or venues. Further, we will do our best to ensure that you do not experience discrimination due to your body type, age, gender, race, level of ability, or other factors that may concern you.
For information about bachelorette and other private parties, click here. The New York School of Burlesque is a collective of many independent instructors and your payment may go directly to the instructor who is running the class. If you've already sent a payment, the best contact for questions about a class for which you have already registered is the email address to which your PayPal payment was sent. You will see it in the receipt you receive from PayPal when you pay.
Preferred email for all questions related to both classes on the calendar and private parties for which you have not yet paid:
schoolofburlesque@gmail.com.
Name the class (and its date if applicable) in the subject line of your email.
Include your phone number if you prefer to speak on the phone.
We are no longer using the email address nysbinstructors@gmail.com. Use schoolofburlesque@gmail.com instead.
If you do not receive an email reply immediately, feel free to send your email again after 24 hours. Technology can be unreliable and we want to make sure we don't miss your message!

Gift certificate recipients may not drop in; no students may ever drop in for any class as we have to limit class size to prevent overcrowding and to make sure we have enough supplies on hand. Any registrations or questions may be addressed to schoolofburlesqueatgmaildotcom.
Over the holidays, it may take us a day or two to respond, but feel free to contact us anyway!
PLEASE DO: note your name and the date and time of the class you want to attend or the event you want to plan in every single piece of correspondence in order to help us to avoid any errors. We receive inquiries about multiple classes every day and we want to make sure we are discussing the correct class with you!
Information about what kinds of classes are available and what they are like and the schedule and cost for each one is available on the calendar and on the classes pages of the site. Only the classes on the calendar are available for registration; every time a class is confirmed, it is listed on the calendar, so if it isn't there, it's not confirmed to be happening, though it may be in the process of being confirmed. Most classes are suitable for beginners and mixed levels unless otherwise stated. Please review the listed classes rather than email to ask us about available classes and prices, as all of that information is already available in detail on the site.
If you are contacting us about missing a class and wanting a refund or transfer to another date, please read our Payment Policies first.
If you register for any classes, it is in your best interests to join our email list for the duration of your attendance, as emergency notices will often be sent out there.
Although cancellations are extremely rare, if we cancel any class or event, for any reason, you will receive a full refund for any payment you have made. Please keep up to date on the page of this site featuring the class you want to take, where any changes will be posted. Please be sure to give us an email address at which you can receive information in the event of a cancellation or venue change.
PLEASE DO NOT: contact us with business questions via social media (such as twitter direct messages, facebook messages, formspring questions, etc.) Our business is wonderful but demanding and the only way we can keep track of our correspondence with you is by old-fashioned email.
