Open to boys of all genders.
Over 5 weeks, this class will guide students through the process of creating a burlesque routine, from inspiration to creation to consummation, bringing it all together for a showcase on the legendary Slipper Room stage.

Exercises and concepts from Porkpie's celebrated "Boudoir of Ideas" and "Arc of the Tease" workshops serve as the jumping-off point for a series that will cover all aspects of conceiving and developing a burlesque performance, including striptease fundamentals, character and story, music selection, costuming, and dramatic structure and build.

In addition to Porkpie, the class features an unprecedented lineup of guest instructors: three Burlesque Hall of Fame "Best Boylesque" winners: Tigger! (2006, the first), The Evil Hate Monkey (2010), and Mr. Gorgeous (Reigning).

All levels welcome, no performance experience necessary. Email any questions to porkpie@pinchbottom.com.

Showcase at The Slipper Room, 167 Orchard St. Thursday April 23rd 7-9 pm.

About Your Teacher

Jonny Porkpie brings to the classroom almost 11 years experience performing Burlesque (more than twice that in theater) and over half a decade teaching the art form. He has taught and performed burlesque on three continents, in five different countries including the UK, New Zealand, and Australia, and at most of the top schools in the United States, including The Academy of Burlesque in Seattle, Studio L'Amour in Chicago, The Playful Peacock Academy in Minneapolis, The New York School of Burlesque, The New Orleans School of Burlesque, and at festivals including the New York Boylesque Festival, The Southern Fried Burlesque Fest, Girlesque in Toronto, and more, and has taught for the past six years at the Burlesque educational convention Burlycon. He is the producer and co-host of the Movers, Shakers, and Innovators showcase at The Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekender, and one of the first-ever winners of their "Most Innovative" accolade, and co-creator and producer of theatrical-burlesque fusion Pinchbottom, which New York Magazine and the Village Voice tapped as the "Best Burlesque" in New York City.
