Aboute Your Instructor:
Phathoms Deep, originally from Baldwin, LA, started his dance journey with influences from MTV, BET, and movies like Breakin'. At 19, he joined Louisiana's renowned Kabuki Kru, honing his Breakin' and Hip Hop skills. He performed in NYC's Times Square with the Hector Dance Company and was featured in the "Cupid Shuffle" music video and the hit TV series "Claws" on TNT. A seasoned performer whose credits include the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekender in Las Vegas, Phathoms Deep brings over 15 years of experience in performing and teaching. Through his company Rhythm/Soul, he shares passion and dedication by mentoring youth and promoting positivity through dance.

That Freestyle Flavor: Beat Riding & the Art of Improvisation

For emcees beat riding is when the rhythm of their rhymes match the rhythm of the beat. To accomplish this, more emphasis is put on words that match the beat, while other supporting words may not match. In this class we will transfer this concept to movement. Come ride the beat and put that extra oomph in your improvisation, and get that freestyle flavor!

About Your Instructor:
Miss AuroraBoobRealis's classes have received rave reviews from participants at BurlyCon as well as in Austin, Portland, Richmond, D.C. and NYC. She brings a wealth of experience and skills she’s honed as a teaching artist of twenty-five years and group fitness instructor for more than a decade to the table as a burlesque educator. Aurora’s classes are super fun, accessible for all bodies and abilities and grounded in an understanding that she isn’t trying to teach people to dance like her --instead she is helping to expand their movement vocabulary so they can be more fully themselves.
